Two Therapy Bots, Speaking to Each Other…

2025
Installation, monitor, text algorithmically live-generated, anti-spy glass

A screen, coated with anti-spy glass, ensures that the display is visible only from directly in front, allowing just one person at a time to view the artwork.

On this screen, two chatbots engage in an ongoing dialogue. This device features an algorithmic live generation dialog. The programs driving it draw inspiration from ELIZA—the pioneering chatbot and therapy bot—as well as common therapeutic response patterns found online. Using a lexical construction mechanism, the system mimics and builds upon the previous sentence, often resulting in awkward exchanges that can quickly devolve into a chaotic series of loops. As the artist programs new potential responses and triggers for replies, the conversation evolves into a blend of existential-grotesque themes mixed with mundane commentary on contemporary technological advancements.
